Over the years I’ve spoken and worked with scores of people who have, for one reason or another, been listed on Chexsystems. Given the financial climate over the last few years, that number is growing steadily. Having been listed in Chexsystems years ago I know how stressful and expensive it can be and how hard it can be to get out of – which is why I created this site.
It doesn’t matter why you got listed in Chexsystems, what it comes down to is that there’s no reason why you should have to live without a bank account. For this reason, I’ve spent hours compiling a list of over 300 bank accounts nation-wide that either don’t use chexsystems when verifying accounts or who do but offer second chance bank accounts for people who have had problems in the past.
In addition, I’ve identified two banks which provide national service options and are, in my opinion, the best solutions for getting a new bank account.
- The Second Chance Bank Account offered by NewBankAccount.net. When applying for a new bank account on this site, you’re 99.8% guaranteed to be given a new checking account. What’s even better about this site is that by applying in one place you’re really applying to multiple banks and they respond back with the best offer. This saves you a lot of time and effort as well as multiple dings on your credit report from each bank checking your credit as it’s only done once. This is a great option for those who are looking for a Second Chance Checking Account.
- ING Direct. I first joined ING in 2004 and have loved them ever since. They have great service, no fees, high interest rates (relatively speaking) and are very customer friendly to work with. One challenge with ING is that at first you can only open a Savings account. After that is established, you can open a checking account. It also doesn’t work for people who need to have a branch to walk into as ING is an internet based bank. However, if you can have a little patience on opening the checking account and you don’t require a branch office to visit, ING would be my first choice.
If neither of the above two accounts work for you, feel free to check out our list of non chexsystems banks and credit unions to find one in your area that will suit your needs. Good luck to you and happy banking!
